How It Works

Our academic team considers your child's individual learning style and goals and then assigns the specific tutor who can best motivate her. Based on the results, your tutor will craft a program that addresses your child's specific strengths and weaknesses. From day one, lessons will be planned around your child's needs. And because our curriculum is aligned with the most recent state standards, your child will always be working on the most relevant skills.
- Comprehensive Consultation. We partner with you to understand your goals and your child's needs and interests.
- Tutor Match. We match an expert Kaplan tutor with your family based on your child's goals and personality as well as your location and schedule.
- Initial Assessment. Your family's tutor will come to meet your child for the first time and perform an initial assessment.
- Customized Learning Plan. Your tutor will use the results of the assessment to create an individualized learning plan specific to your child's needs.
- One-on One Instructional Sessions. Your child meets with your family's tutor at your home (or the location of your choosing) 1-6 times per week.
- Unlimited Access to Smart Track. All Math, Reading, Writing, and NYS ELA/Math students also have access to our revolutionary Smart Track Online Learning System, which contains engaging online math and reading lessons. Because Smart Track is adaptive, it quickly targets the right skills to make progress faster, while introducing challenging new material through fun and interactive instruction to keep your child engaged. With Smart Track, students can maximize learning outside of their in-person tutoring sessions.
- Motivation and Rewards. Throughout the program, your child earns virtual points as assignments are completed and academic milestones are achieved. These points can be redeemed in Kaplan's online Reward Zone for virtual and physical prizes, as well as donations to charity.
- Parent Reports. We keep you up to date on your child's academic progress with access to real-time, online progress reports.
